Uniswap’s interface converts altcoins into ETH

Uniswap, a decentralized exchange, launched an interface on Tuesday that converts ERC-20 tokens, like Aave, Chainlink’s LINK, and Decentraland’s MANA, to Ether (ETH) directly. The coins are then sent in a single transaction to the Ukrainian government’s official crypto wallet addresses.

In describing the rollout, Uniswap stated that the Ukrainian address is on a centralized exchange and only receives Ether and Tether (USDT). As a result, the feature streamlines the donation process for anyone with ERC-20 tokens on Uniswap’s list and who wants to contribute by connecting their wallet to the DEX.

However, according to a tweet quoted by the Uniswap team, few members of the crypto community are concerned that the centralized Ukrainian exchange is holding these wallets’ keys and are requesting a more reliable custody approach.

Nonetheless, donation support was rolled out by Ukraine to Polkadot’s DOT earlier today. Gavin Wood, the founder of Polkadot, made a personal contribution of $5.8 million in DOT to the recently supported address.

The blockchain community has been active in assisting Ukraine in its fight against a raging war. Aside from donations, initiatives like non-fungible token drops for supporting Ukrainian artists and UkraineDAO have also attained traction.

At the time of publication, the Ukrainian government and NGOs in the country had collected more than $53 million in contributions, according to Cointelegraph data.

The figures are based on tracked projects and do not comprise donations made between individuals or via various altcoins. Significant contribution initiatives include:

  1. Kuna’s Reserve Fund of Ukraine
  2. Come Back Alive, and
  3. Bitcoin (BTC), Ether, Tether, and DOT are sent directly to Ukrainian government-verified wallet addresses.

It is noteworthy, however, that the increase in the value of the donations partially stems from capital recognition as a result of the ongoing rally in the cryptocurrency markets.
