Hackers Demand Ransome In Crypto from Educational Institutes

A group of hackers allegedly stole and erased data from KN Modi Foundation educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh and demanded $1 million worth of cryptocurrency to fix the problem.

SP (Rural Ghaziabad) Iraj Raja said the police received a complaint from Sandeep Kumar Yadav on behalf of the foundation. In his complaint, he told the police that the hackers stole and erased all student and staff data from the institute’s computers.

Police have registered an FIR against two unidentified persons under Section 507 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication) and relevant sections of the IT Act.
