Google Supports Ethereum (ETH) Merge

Google, a leading technology company that specializes in organizing the world’s information and making it universally available, has shown support for Merge, the long-awaited upgrade to Ethereum (ETH) . The merge is said to be the biggest and most important innovation in the history of the second largest cryptocurrency’s blockchain. According to Vitalik Buterin, while the merge is expected to take place between September 13 and 15, Google has added a countdown feature that will allow users to track the rollout of the upgrade. Google Cloud developer Sam Padilla tweeted that everyone is excited about the many benefits the Ethereum blockchain can bring to the cryptocurrency industry.

He tweeted, “hey Vitalik Buterin, Justin Drake, and other Ethereum folks, go google “the merge” for a fun little surprise & appreciation. Everyone is so excited for what is coming and appreciative of the work that has been going into this for years.”

Google adds countdown to merge

The Ethereum (ETH) merger will transform the largest smart contract platform into Proof of Stake (PoS). In particular, the merge will reduce Ethereum’s energy consumption by approximately 99.95%. To show support for the upcoming upgrade, Google added a feature that shows a countdown for merging events. To track upcoming updates via Google, you can type “Ethereum Merge” or “The Merge” into the Google search bar. A real-time countdown is displayed with calculations based on difficulty and shuffle speed.

At the time of writing, Google shows that the Ethereum (ETH) merger will take place in 2 days, 9 hours and 52 minutes. It also shows a current difficulty of 58567730P, a hash rate of 857TH/s, and a  combined difficulty of 58750000P at press time. Meanwhile, the final upgrade before the merge Bellatrix officially launched on September 6th. While several leading exchanges have announced their support for the planned development, one of Switzerland’s largest banks, SEBA Bank, has launched Ethereum betting for institutional clients.
