The Minister of State for Personnel Singh stated that the adoption of 21st-century management practices represents a remarkable challenge for governments, and this is the purpose for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commenced the ambitious Vision India @2047 initiative.
He stated that though one cannot envision exactly how India will emerge after 25 years, one certain thing is that when independent India celebrates its 100th anniversary, it will be the world’s technological and economic powerhouse.
Several initiatives, policies, schemes, and programs have contributed to the dawn of a new India and the emergence of ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat,’ according to Singh, but there are challenges on many fronts that require innovative solutions.
The minister emphasized the need to increase trust and minimize compliances for “ease of living” for the common man, calling for an integrated approach to problem-solving.
According to Singh, as we develop the vision for governance, “climate change and disaster management” must become an essential component of civil servant training.
The minister announced that a mega-science mission on climate research will be disclosed soon, visualizing the role of artificial intelligence in disaster management.
He stated that new opportunities and challenges will continue to emerge and that civil servants must prepare to seize the initiatives at the right time.
Singh stated that digital institutions must be established in order to bring citizens and the government closer together.
He also emphasized the importance of ethics in the delivery of public services and predicted that in the coming years, technology will propel a model of citizen governance.
According to the minister, the government has attempted to ensure digital infrastructure as a core utility for every citizen by offering unique digital identities, access to common service centers, and thousands of Services on Demand through seamless integration of services across departments/ministries.
V Srinivas, Secretary, DARPG, stated that in 2021, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances will strive to implement three critical campaigns aimed at deepening administrative reforms using a whole-of-government approach.
