Trump plans to launch his sons’ crypto business

Next Monday, the sons of the Republican nominee, Donald Jr. and Eric, will oversee the cryptocurrency platform World Liberty Financial, which will be the subject of a speech by former President Donald Trump.

His speech is scheduled for 50 days prior to Election Day, marking an exceptional utilization of the last remaining campaign time to advance a personal venture. The former Republican president has a history of combining his business and political pursuits. During his 2024 campaign, he promoted Bibles bearing the Trump brand, photo books, and sneakers.

In a video uploaded to X on Thursday, Trump stated, “We’re embracing the future with crypto and leaving the slow and outdated big banks behind.” He will also make a presentation on the topic on Monday at 8 p.m. EDT from his Mar-a-Lago home.

Trump has made it clear during his campaign for president that he wants to make the US the “crypto capital of the planet,” which raises concerns about the possibility that he will use the federal government to support a family business.

Digital money in the form of cryptocurrencies can be exchanged online without the help of the global banking system. To exchange cryptocurrencies for dollars and other currencies, trading frequently relies on online marketplaces that impose transaction fees.

Trump was against cryptocurrency when he was president, but he has now become more accepting of the industry. He has pledged to prevent the Federal Reserve from creating a Central Bank Digital Currency, which would be a publicly accessible digital form of central bank money, and he has proposed that the government establish a strategic reserve of Bitcoin.
