The government of the United Kingdom has announced plans to issue a non-fungible token (NFT) to demonstrate its commitment to a forward-thinking approach to cryptocurrency technology and investment.
Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak has asked the Royal Mint, the maker of British coins, to produce an NFT in the coming months, according to John Glen, minister, and economic secretary to the Treasury, who spoke on Monday at the Innovate Finance Global Summit.
This will serve as an emblem of the forward-thinking approach we are determined to take, according to Glen.
As part of its strategy for the UK financial services industry, the government also announced its vision for stablecoins and distributed ledger technologies.
