Mexico using AI to Reinvent itself

The pandemic has accelerated the digital transformation process in Mexico and more and more companies are reinventing themselves through artificial intelligence in order to maintain their profitability.

According to the Digital Transformation Index, compiled by Dell Technology, it was revealed that Mexico saw significant progress in terms of digital transformation in 2020, with 52% of companies surveyed in the Republic of Mexico categorized as part of the Digital Adopters category , i.e. companies that are already investing in innovation.

Although Artificial Intelligence is not a new topic in the country as it has been working on it since the 1950s, it is only in the last few years that AI has become the most powerful tool and great ally of national companies in order not to be left behind in the digital revolution and thus further grow and be competent in the market.

The truth is that the adoption of this technology is not automatic, on the contrary, it requires dynamic and innovative companies that can absorb the tools associated with AI and, above all, a workforce with skills, abilities and knowledge that are compatible and complementary with emerging technology. Mexico faces a major challenge here.

“In Mexico there are innumerable challenges with the introduction of Artificial Intelligence, one of which is the process of collecting, cleaning and centralizing data, as well as extensive work in the industry in order to transform it digitally and make it ‘datadriven’. Although Mexico is a blank canvas and the data science and artificial intelligence community is only just beginning to be exploited, there are already national industries such as automotive, agriculture, finance and retail that have begun to apply these technologies to maximize your profit and profitability. And without data and without AI, there is no real knowledge about the customer, the industry or the products.

“In the next five years we will see exponential growth in the AI industry. Unfortunately, companies that do not adapt will lose their position in the market or disappear. That is why it is important that public and private institutions join in this commitment and evolution, to give support and access to companies with limited resources, so that they find growth opportunities ”, says the CEO of Alfonso Marina.

The prospects are clear, Mexico is experiencing a technological breakthrough and the industry is benefiting in unprecedented ways through the use of artificial intelligence, optimizing supply chains, accelerating the implementation of high-quality processes and, at the same time, over time, the importance of “human skills” such as creativity and Problem solving highlights, Artificial Intelligence is the number one bet for businesses and the Mexican economy today to reinvent themselves and face the health crisis it is causing COVID19.

According to KPMG, the three most important digital future trends of Mexican companies are the cloud (77%), artificial intelligence (70%) and the fifth generation 5G mobile network (31%). In the report “Creative Disruption: How CEOs Expect Covid19 to reshape business in the region”, however, the Oxford Business Group classifies remote work as the most important transformation of companies in Mexico, with technologies from the cloud in second place and automation in third place.

The problem is that many companies in the region still have limited access to and understanding of technology, nearly half of them (47%) are in the early stages of innovation, KPMG notes, and less than 5% have any degree of innovation mature innovation, geared towards continuous improvement.

“The challenges for the development of Artificial Intelligence in the country are the same as for most of the industries dedicated to the development of technology. It focuses on the lack of access to resources.
