Supporters of the most popular cryptocurrency asserted that since its launch, Bitcoin BTC/USD has recorded more trading hours than the US stock market has in the previous 53 years.
What occurred was that proponent of Bitcoin Cory Bates published an infographic on X on Thursday with the caption, “Bitcoin is now older than the stock market.”
The image, which was first created by a different Bitcoin enthusiast going by the alias Hodl Kamikaze, represented an estimated 100,737 hours of stock market activity since the Nixon Shock on August 15, 1971.
In contrast, there have been 123,774 Bitcoin trading hours since the founding of the first cryptocurrency exchange, BitcoinMarket, on March 17, 2010.
Matthew Sigel, Head of Digital Assets Research at renowned investment manager VanEck, emphasized the revelation.
