Indian Railways leveraging AI to improve Customer Experience

Indian Railways is known for managing the fourth largest rail network in the world. The Indian government wants to convert Indian Railways to a digitalized and cashless economy in the near future. It has launched a next-gen eTicketing system to boost the speed of booking tickets across the country.

Nevertheless, Indian Railways is focused on generating more services by leveraging leading cutting edge technologies such as artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence in Indian Railways can promote India to one of the top countries providing the smoothest customer experience across the world, especially the country with the second largest population density.

However, Indian Railways is focused on leveraging artificial intelligence and data analysis through several AI models. Indian Railways’ artificial intelligence will provide a wide range of services such as train operations, ticket reservation, system maintenance, rail facilities and much more. Indian Railways analyzes this data in real time in order to use it in the PRS (Passenger Reservation System) for an efficient flow without potential errors. Indian Railway has partnered with one of the most popular B-schools in India, ISB Hyderabad, to analyze the real-time datasets generated by this national transporter. Purpose is the planning of an introductory capacity building program and the formulation of a detailed report on the practices of artificial intelligence in rail transport. There is also an appointment of the CTO (Chief Technology Officer) to oversee emerging disruptive technologies for more AI models and analytics in each zone headquarters.

Indian Railways is one of the most important transportation systems in the country for people of different income groups and aims to avoid serious consequences such as inconvenience and loss due to negligence, so that artificial intelligence in Indian railways can help alleviate these problems efficiently and effectively. The Indian rail system consists of data on passengers, operations, freight traffic and much more. Indian Railways, which uses artificial intelligence, have some of the railroad officials to attend and cover a full training course on two topics of artificial intelligence and data analysis at the IIT, IIM and ISB. These officers can work on predictive analytics to predict train delays, predictive track maintenance, rolling stock, and more to avoid confusion and transportation issues. However, Indian Railways has started using AI models and data analytics tools to improve the customer experience in a fast paced life where train stations witness the footsteps of hundreds of thousands of people every day to make a living.
