Amazon Go is the tech giant Amazon’s convenience store where checkout is not required. When you shop at Amazon Go, you never have to wait in a queue. This is because the store uses an app known as the Amazon Go app for iOS or Android. You can just enter, take the required products, and exit the shop. For billing, the app is linked to your Amazon account.
These stores operate by using technologies such as computer vision, deep learning, and sensor fusion.
When products are taken or returned to the shelves, this technology detects them and stores them in your virtual cart. When you leave the store with your purchases, your Amazon account is charged and a receipt is emailed to you.
- Google Duplex
Google’s latest AI development is the Google Duplex. This AI system makes our lives easier by helping us with our tasks such as placing restaurant reservations on our behalf, scheduling hair salon appointments, etc.
An interesting feature of Google Duplex is that they conduct natural conversations, unlike other voice assistants. They use speech disfluencies such as mmm-hmm similarly to a human to hint that it’s listening instead of pausing for a short time before giving a reply in a computerized manner.

Facial recognition software has already been in use in China for some time, however, recent advancements have taken it to a whole new level. Some stores are using it as a replacement for cash registers, while others use it for tracking down criminals. The technology is becoming more common, which raises privacy concerns for those in China who do not want their faces scanned by surveillance cameras daily. Facial recognition software will undoubtedly become more popular over the next decade.
- Sophia Robot Demonstrates Personality
Sophia’s developers have given it some entertaining personality in addition to the ability to move and speak independently. When asked what she wants to be when she grows up, Sophia will say, I want to work with humans to put an end to poverty, ascertain equal access to clean water, and find sustainable energy sources.
Furthermore, its website states: Her intelligence is illustrated in her ability to grasp slight changes in her environment and adapt accordingly. Because of her artificial intelligence and ability to interact with humans, she has been granted access to several secure locations, including the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva, where she spoke at a robotics conference.
