AI to rescue during labor shortage

A new report from Unsupervised shows that one in two business owners who implement AI say they’ve helped their company with a labor shortage.

As companies continue to experience high turnover rates, business owners can benefit from AI that takes over tasks traditionally managed by human workers, especially when employers struggle to recruit new workers. The AI ​​includes chatbots, content creation for emails and announcements, and inventory management.

However, if companies are to speed up AI implementation, they will also need to ensure they have the right staff with employees who are trained and knowledgeable about their AI programs. The unsupervised report found that 40% of entrepreneurs believe their staff lack AI skills.

While AI can complement a human workforce or “fill” specific jobs, it is important to have trained professionals with a holistic understanding of the AI ​​programs that the company has implemented. If the perceived difficulties in hiring AI-trained professionals persist, entrepreneurs will need to quickly adapt to methods such as strategic contracting, simplified training, or even outsourcing.

The idea of ​​implementing AI for business needs is growing: 18% of business owners want to increase their use of AI in the future, and one in five is currently implementing AI for the first time. Employees who can handle AI but need more employees trained in AI programs.

Unsupervised used multiple datasets to study AI usage in businesses and capture the current AI and business landscape, including the AI ​​Index Report 2021, International Data Corporation, The State of AI in Business by Deloitte, and CB Insights to provide AI to investigate. Unsupervised also surveyed 520 business owners about their attitudes towards Prolific’s implementation of AI in their companies.
