It’s possible that workers aren’t yet experiencing the benefits of AI productivity.
More than three out of four workers, or 75%, claimed AI tools have increased their burden and reduced their productivity in a recent survey conducted by the research institute of freelance marketplace UpWork.
There were 2,500 participants in the study from the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. Of these, 1,250 were C-suite executives, 625 were full-time salaried workers, and 625 were freelancers.
The arrival of AI, according to the respondents, has caused them to spend more time either learning how to use the tools or assessing information created by the technology. Additionally, nearly 25% of participants reported that the new technology was requiring them to perform additional work.
According to the report, even though 85% of business executives are pressuring employees to embrace technology, many are finding it too complicated and have too much work.
Businesses have long anticipated that integrating AI into the workplace will increase output and decrease the demand for human labor. Citing benefits from new technology, a number of businesses have stopped hiring or laid off staff within the past two years.
While over half of AI-using employees indicated they have no idea how to achieve the productivity increases their bosses expect, 39% of the surveyed organizations already make the usage of AI products mandatory.
Employees that use ChatGPT at work have been shown to benefit from it, while the technology is prone to fabrication and hallucinations. Numerous of these errors have already put employees in trouble.
