As part of Search Lab’s Google Search Generative Experience (SGE) initiative, Google has been working since mid-May to integrate its newly discovered focus on generative AI with its current competence in search. The SGE programme will now be available in both the Japanese and Indian markets, according to a statement released by the firm on Wednesday.
SGE, Google’s response to Microsoft’s Bing AI, is intended to deliver curated, condensed responses to input prompts rather than a list of web links. Instead of operating as a distinct chatbot assistant, Google’s solution integrates its AI right into the current search bar, which is how it differs from Microsoft’s. The business started opening up access to the SGE programme to US users in late May, and last week it started rolling out Search Labs to customers in India and Japan.
According to a blog post published on Wednesday by Google Search, the AI-enhanced search feature will be accessible to users in both English and Hindi in India and Japanese in Japan. The site continues, they are also introducing voice input, so users can just speak their inquiry instead of typing it and listen to the results. Search advertisements will still show up in designated ad spots all over the website.
Additionally, Google stated that “users are having a favourable experience, using SGE for assistance with more difficult topics and completely new types of inquiries. Although the company does not provide evidence to support those claims, it does remark that SGE’s top satisfaction scores were from 18 to 24 year olds.
With the launch of ChatGPT in November of last year, generative AI systems had a meteoric surge in popularity, but the technology’s brilliance is already starting to wear thin as the exploitation of its powers, which seemed inevitable, intensifies. The technology is already being utilized in internet scams, which has caught the attention of Congress as well as federal regulators who want to put a stop to such misdeeds.
