Sophia Becomes ‘AI Being’ for Metaverse in NFT Auction

The humanoid robot that went to the United Nations, got Saudi citizenship, and sang with Jimmy Fallon  now sprawls into the metaverse.

A virtual animated version of the robot, “Sophia”, will be released in 100 non-fungible tokens that can autonomously interact  with people in a gamified environment. It’s the latest iteration of a bot whose creators believe artificial intelligence can be used as a force of goodwill even as critics warn that  technology has the power to destroy humanity.

I think the virtual format can allow us to scale up to millions of simultaneous interactions across media devices and  platforms, which would create impact at scale, said Jeanne Lim,  former CEO of Hanson Robotics, the Hong Kong-based company. behind Sophia the robot,  in an email.

Lim, who is now the co-founder and CEO of beingAI, the startup that created the official virtual version of Sophia for the interactive NFT, said she hopes the new AI  will bring  humanity and technology together for help humans achieve our true nature of unconditional love and pure possibility.

While the global race for artificial intelligence has made Elon Musk fear that  technology will become more dangerous than nuclear weapons, the Hanson Robotics founder David Hanson remains optimistic about the benevolent potential of AI, adding that Sophia was created as part of the quest to bring robots to life as “super empathetic, intelligent and living machines.”

Sophia beingAI is a collaboration with Alethea AI, which is building a decentralized protocol to create an intelligent metaverse inhabited by interactive NFTs, according to a statement. NFTs will be auctioned  on the Binance NFT marketplace from December 16.
